Registered Charity 1125170
UPDATE: In line with Government and Swim England guidance our standard swim sessions are currently suspended until further notice.
We are offering bookable, small group, teacher-led activities. When available, these will be advertised on our social media pages, with details of how to book (debit card required).
Who Can Join?
As a membership organisation, you will need to apply before being able to join in and go swimming. There is a membership form that asks about your health to ensure we (SDSG & the pool) can keep you safe while you’re with us. Perspective members are asked to arrive after 6.30pm during one of our fortnightly swim sessions or call us beforehand to ensure there is a volunteer available to show you round and go through the forms. We currently have over 100 members, with between 40 – 50 attending each swim session.
The group is open to anyone with a short or long term disability or medical condition who would benefit from our group activities (including their family/carers). May that be:
Once you’re in the water, you’re subject to a type of weightlessness which immediately alleviates pressure on your joints and muscles, and allows you to float and stretch in ways that you might not be able to achieve when out on dry land. It can also be very socialable.
•Hip joint replacement
•Moderate to severe Asthma
To name a few!
